Lo-Boy Bio: Singer-songwriter Alvin "Abbey" Brazley the only child of an African American steel worker from MS. & a southern IL. farm girl and pianist-singer Karyn Lyn Sarring, child of 2nd generation europen immigrants, partner as.. “Lo-Boy” a fun, high energy blend of pop, rock and soul. With a hot album & a great live show, the chicago natives claim singing in the back seat of our parents cars and in church choir, was where it all started. The "wall of sound" Lo-Boy generates was born, "armed with an Ampex 2 inch tape machine, Pro-tools, versatility & budding production skills, we had to learn to do everything ourselves. We had to re-invent ourselves! We never fit-in anywhere. We were always too this or not enough of that. Everyone was always doing the same old thing".
"Finally music has truly become "crossover." Mixing many many great musical influences with today's sound & pop culture is catching on. We've waited all our lives for the world's music to grow together, like styles and cultures have in many ways. It's really amazing sharing so many differences and similarities. The record business is a very different animal now as it should be. TRL is the American Bandstand of 2007. Independents are everything now and just as influencial as when Ray Charles or the Beatles showed us the future.
"The Re-Mix" gets a much needed and much welcomed infusion of Gospel R&B great Reggie Smith's timeless piano virtuosity in a impromtu session addiing new piano tracks to "U promised me and "Don't want nobody." Reggie's been playing in church for a decade, as musical director of a Ohio ministry. A native of Youngstown, Reggie's formitable self taught skills on the keys brought "chicken skin" & tears to our eyes with a natural "feel" that only he and a select few with the same background can bring to the table anymore. Remniscent of R&B legends Reggie is truly a pleasure to listen to and the tracks just shine. His fluidity and natural inflections are electric.
